We’re excited to kick off our #MyTurfHunt series with one of our long-time customers, Trailnet.

Trailnet is a nonprofit organisation in St. Louis, Missouri whose goal is to foster healthy, active, and vibrant communities where walking, bicycling, and using public transit are a way of life. By developing policy and on-the-ground solutions they lead the way in making the streets in their region safer for all. Frankly, they’re are a very impressive organisation doing important work! You can see their mission values here.

One of the ways Trailnet encouraged locals to get out and explore the trails, rivers, and outdoor treasures of their region was with the months-long event The Twenty Treasures Challenge which they published in TurfHunt.

With the support of the Holton Family Foundation, Trailnet collaborated with a number of other nonprofits and outdoor recreation organisations to come up with a list of 20 destinations that could all be reached by walking, running, biking or paddling. Participants were asked to download the TurfHunt app and when they visited one of those “Twenty Treasures,” the app unlocked the treasure using GPS and gave them some fun facts about the destination.

The project featured really nice graphics, which both served as a way to brand the project, but also to clearly communicate who the collaborating partners were. As well as getting to explore the region and learn about some local landmarks, participants had a chance to win some pretty amazing prizes. By participating, they earned raffle entries for a chance to win a free E-Bike or Bluetooth bike helmet! The challenge ended on September 5 and prizes have since been awarded.
