Reykjavík Art Walk is the latest app to combine thoughtful and thorough content curation with the diverse range of Locatify Creator CMS features. The app contextualises the art pieces for you so you get the full story behind the art in Reykjavik.

Reykjavik Art Museum takes care of around two hundred public artworks in Reykjavik. The app features multiple GPS walking tours with images, texts, audio and games. The app uses GPS to guide users to the nearest public art location where the information helps contextualise the pieces for you so you get the full story behind the art.

Home Screen

The home page uses the Locatify Automatic Tourist Guide template with customised menu icons and menu layout. The Reykjavik Art Museum chose a simple layout with logo and links to the key features of the app and a link to open their website within the app.

Map

The map view allows users to view all of the individual art pieces and also the location of each tour. Each art piece can be clicked on to view more information and get directions to the location of the art piece.

The tour start points can also be viewed and clicked on to view more info about the tour and to download the tour content to the device for offline use.

The Art Pieces are created using the Locatify Map Markers features which allows content curators to add local “points of interests” (POI) to specific locations.

Public Art

The app features roughly 200 Art pieces around Reykjavik. The list uses a “waterfall” view to display the art pieces, which can be clicked on to view more information, the location and to navigate to the art piece.

The Public Art list also uses the Map Markers feature but is an alternative way to display the POI’s. The points of interest can include customisable content such as photos, videos, website links, and can be added to “categories” for filtering POI’s.

Another key feature of the app is the nine GPS enabled guided tours which can be used as walking tours, a bike tour and a museum tour.

Testimonial

It was a great pleasure to work on the app on art in public space in Reykjavik together with Locatify. They were very co-operative and flexible, responded quickly to messages and were always ready to talk on the phone if needed. According to their recommendations, we used the Trello project management system to work together, a very convenient and clear system, and a great help in planning. Thanks for helping us make the app a reality and for a successful collaboration!
