Customer
Safnahúsið (Icelandic for “the Culture House”) is an exhibition space in Reykjavik and a recent addition to The National Gallery of Iceland (Listasafn Íslands). There, visitors can see a treasure of Icelandic art from Iceland’s largest art collection.
Challenge
Safnahúsið wanted to increase its service to visitors who choose to visit the museum on their own and enable gamified learning.
Solution
They partnered with Locatify to develop the Listasafn Íslands treasure hunt game app for an interdisciplinary exhibition for people of all ages. The starting point was the Locatify white-label template app with the client’s branding.
Testimonial
“The treasure hunt game changes people’s experience during their visit to the museum, the visit turns into a fun puzzle game and opens people’s minds to the magic of art.”
– Ásthildur Jónsdóttir, Project Manager, Safnahúsið
BLE Beacons Triggering Challenges Automatically
Indoor projects consist of floors and stations, and a floor can contain many stations. A station is what houses all of the information about a particular point of interest in an indoor tour or game, like a pin in an outdoor project. In the Listasafn Íslands app, the Floors are presented in a list, and each floor is represented with a title and banner color. The app uses BLE Beacons, installed at every station, to automatically trigger interactive questions about the artwork on show.
Gamified Learning
The app contains quiz-style challenges where players learn about the artworks and the concepts behind them with quizzes. Quiz challenges question challenges (multiple-choice, single-answer and open-ended text questions), photo challenges, draw challenges and a jigsaw puzzle specifically developed for this project. Points are awarded for correct answers and for completing challenges.
