THE USE OF SMART PHONE AND TABLET APPLICATIONS FOR THE INTERACTIVE LEARNING OF CULTURAL HERITAGE

Abstract:

The Icelandic company Locatify has developed apps and Content Management System (CMS) where curators and other users can upload content regarding cultural heritage for users of the applications. The apps provide users navigation, guidance and narration supported by Global Positioning System (GPS) outdoor and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) indoor. With this system you can easily create cultural heritage tours and provide users an unforgettable experience. Additionally treasure hunt games and map markers can be created. In this article I will explain the development of the system, use of the system, lessons learned and opportunities seen.
