UTmessan is one of the largest IT conference events in Iceland. The purpose of the conference is to highlight the importance of information technology and its effects on individuals, businesses and Icelandic society. The app was produced for Skýrslutæknifélag Islands (The Icelandic Computer Society).

Create an engaging event app that would add value to the conference agenda through the use of innovative technology.

A custom app was created and a network of iBeacons were placed throughout the Harpa concert hall. The app featured a schedule of events, floor map of the expo area, info about the exhibitors and an accompanying treasure hunt game. Exhibitor information and treasure hunt challenges were triggered automatically when guests move within radius of the beacons. This encouraged a dialog between the visitors and exhibitors. A leaderboard was setup in the reception area to display game updates and to announce daily winners who had received a prize.

Quick setup, thoughtfully chosen templates and an easy to use content management system makes it easy for anyone to get an app.

The event has passed so the app is no longer available for download from the App Store or Play Store.
